Some sweet Chinle paleosols near Capitol Reef, Utah.
Introduction
I am a Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Utah. I grew up in Texas and in Utah, and later attended Carleton College in Minnesota as an undergraduate geology major. I then made my way back West for graduate school at Stanford University with Steve Graham, doing research on Cretaceous rift basins in southern Mongolia. I came back 'home' to the University of Utah in 2003.
I am active in basin analysis research, including clastic sequence stratigraphy, facies analysis, petroleum geology, basin modeling, and sedimentation and tectonics. Additional information about this program can be found on the links and additional pages included here. Thanks for visiting, and please feel free to contact me with any questions!
